For Drinking Pure Ceremonial Matcha
Sift the matcha: In a matcha bowl, place a fine sieve over the bowl and push the measured matcha powder through it with a spoon or the bamboo scoop to remove any clumps. This ensures a smooth, clump-free tea.
Add water: Pour the hot water (around 70-80°C, not boiling) into the bowl with the sifted matcha powder.
Whisk: Submerge the tines of the bamboo whisk in the mixture. Briskly whisk the matcha in a back-and-forth motion, creating "W" or "M" shapes, until a layer of light green foam or froth forms on the surface (around 15-25 seconds).
Serve: Gently use the whisk to break up any large air bubbles to smooth the surface of the foam. The drink is traditionally served immediately in the bowl.
